An excellent article on this topic:

"Using the LMS Algorithm for QRM and QRN Reduction" by
Dr. Steven E. Reyer, WA9VNJ, and David L. Hershberger, W9GR, in
September 1992 QEX magazine.

This specific algorithm is implemented in at least one commercial
product and I did an implementation a few years ago on the TMS320C15, a
fixed point chip.
