But all I get is a very consistent 28.8 [...] I also have a 3Com/USR V.90/x2 modem and never connect to a K56Flex line at any speed other than 28.8kbps. This modem supports "V.34+" at "..., ..., 33600" according to the documentation. (I'm guessing "V.34+" means "V.34bis" (?).) One would hope that K56Flex server equipment would also support V.34bis, but I don't have any information on this. If the server equipment supports V.34 (maximum of 28.8kbps), but not V.34bis, that would explain why our modems connect consistently at 28.8kbps. > Also, if I dial in to Concentric with my regular phone, I get a > high-pitched tone for about two seconds, followed by a high-low two-toned > thing before I hear the modem. Does anyone know what this all means? What you describe sounds like the K56Flex negotiation tone (sorry, I don't know the proper name for this); it is normal when calling a K56Flex modem.
